The “why” behind our foundation

The Ireland Family Foundation was created with one clear purpose: to advance autism research and expand direct services for adults living on the autism spectrum across the United States.

We are a private, family-run foundation that funds organizations doing meaningful, evidence-informed work for adults on the autism spectrum.

2 Areas of Focus

Our grant-making falls into 2 categories, both aimed at improving outcomes for adults on the autism spectrum.

01

AUTISM RESEARCH

We fund nonprofits, universities, and research institutes working to expand what we know about autism so that adults on the spectrum receive care and support rooted in real evidence.

02

DIRECT SERVICES FOR ADULTS

We support organizations that deliver hands-on programs and services to adults on the autism spectrum, from employment & housing support to social skills, life skills, and community inclusion.

What guides our giving

Evidence-Based

We prioritize research-backed approaches and measurable outcomes over good intentions alone.

Community-Centered

Adults on the autism spectrum deserve access to real services in real communities.

Family-Driven

As a family foundation, every grant reflects a personal commitment instead of a formula or a committee vote.

A man and woman sit on a dock by a lake at sunset, facing away. To their left are stacked books labeled research, inclusion, independence, community, opportunity, support. In front of them is a cup of coffee, a notebook with a pen, and a potted plant. Overlaid text reads 'Funding Research. Supporting Lives.' with a small leaf icon.

We Fund 501(c)(3) Nonprofits in the U.S.

The Ireland Family Foundation grants only to legally formed nonprofits with no religious or political affiliations because the work should speak for itself.
